I had coordinated a birthday surprise get together for Lincoln at the Hard Rock Cafe, and everybody was able to make it. It was a total surprise to him because his birthday isn't until Saturday. We even had a cake, though this time it didn't have a flaming candle. However, to up the ante, the Hard Rock had a live band playing and they sang him Happy Birthday at the table.
Now at the point I know what you're thinking, what kind of band do they have a the Beijing Hard Rock Cafe? The first band was one guy who sang covers of classic 80s and 90s pop hits, like some of later hits from Chicago, the Eagles, and some other more obscure artists who had big hits. He sang them without a Chinese accent as well. He was quite good actually and it made for a great dinner atmosphere. Then came the primetime band which was full instruments and vocals, and they sang modern pop hits, again without any accent. They were very good and entertaining, and they came to the table and sang Happy Birthday while the whole place clapped for Lincoln. Quite fun. The food was very good, and everybody had an entertaining evening. This might be the last entry for a few days. Dry your tears and take a deep breath. We are moving Saturday morning to a new location, and we're not quite sure what our internet situation will be. My entries will continue, but I'm not sure if it will be every day. I've really enjoyed writing about the experiences and I've enjoyed getting feedback from those of you replying. My next entry will most likely be Sunday and will be a description of the new location: Media Village 1. Until this weekend take care. - Phil
