Greetings to all.
I apologize for the delay in a new post, but I've been awaiting on some news to become official. I am taking a new job in about a week. I will be the Urban Ministries Coordinator at North Avenue Presbyterian Church. North Avenue Presbyterian is a church located in downtown Atlanta just a short walk over the interstate from Georgia Tech.
In this position I will be connecting the church staff, leadership and membership with need in the local Atlanta community. Some of the major issues North Avenue deals with daily are homelessness and sex trafficking. These are two areas I've been working on for a while.
Stacey and I have been attending this church for over a year now and love the community. I am really excited about the new position. It will allow me to work on causes that I believe Jesus calls us to be actively engaged in. They aren't easy issues but the work we're called to in the Gospels is very challenging to carry out in our world. Challenges are good. I grow in my faith the most when I'm challenged.
I will also get to utilize my media background to help tell the stories of the work. That element is also very exciting to me. Many times the collective church does great things in Christ name, but nobody knows about it and thus it can't be celebrated.
My excitement over the new position allowed me to ease past the horrible occurrence that I witnessed from 9 pm to 11 pm Wednesday night. I just assume never witness something like that again. If you're wondering what I'm referring to, sometimes ignorance is bliss.
