Boil On

It was quite a week! Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett die at about the same time, a Governor attempts to disappear for a week without anyone knowing and I got my low country boil pot. That's a lot going on.

I received by low country boiling pot on Friday. Its pretty awesome. I have already seasoned it with vegetable oil. I know you're impressed. This pot will get its first major use at the beach. I'm planning to feed the entire family in grand fashion. I have helped prepare a low country boil the last two years for our church young adult retreat and its been a smashing success. The last thing I'm waiting on shipping in is the propane burner. After that its game time!

Stacey starts her hospital rotations officially on Wednesday. And wow its quite a schedule. Shifts are like 5 pm to 3 am. Or 11 am to 9 pm. No thanks. Stacey and I will clearly have to be pretty intentional to see each other. Three years. Yee Haw.

I've kept myself busy on my weekends by continuing my secret shopping at the local golf course. One of the things I have to do as a part of my survey is to purchase beers from the cart girls to make sure they are checking ID. I don't drink the beers on the course because I quite frankly have enough trouble hitting the ball straight to even think about adding another variable to the mix. However, now thanks to my survey work the girls are checking for IDs everytime. They weren't before. I suppose getting yelled at by your boss would cause you to be a little more intentional. Just doing my part in the battle against underage drinking and drinking and golfing.

Its really hot here in Atlanta. The humidity is off the charts as well. It pretty much stinks to be outside anywhere. The shade doesn't feel much different than in the sun. At least in the sun you're getting a tan. That comment just made the dermatologists in the crowd cringe.

I've been grilling a lot recently. I listened to a podcast recently with a grilling expert and he gave some excellent tips, one of which was make sure you're grill surface is super clean and make sure your meat of choice has some oil on the outside to guard against sticking. Very helpful. Stacey has been a fan of the new trend. Stuff off the grill just tastes so good. The current favorite flavor for chicken is lemon pepper. I might right a book. Philthy Cooking. I have a lot to share with the world, and so little time to do it.
